This article appears to push a narrative rather then evaluate facts. Electron apps abuse memory and can severely degrade experiences for users on underpowered machines. On iOS, Apple has been continuously improving support for PWAs. It has always allowed you to save any webpage to your home screen but since iOS 11.3 it has supported PWAs. It has even been rejecting some apps built from templating services and suggesting using PWAs instead. Not widely known is that Steve Jobs originally pitched PWAs (though under a different name) has how to build an app for the iPhone when it was launched in 2007, before the app store came along.
